2008

  • In July paysafecard launches successfully in Portugal and broadens its service for Southern Europe.

  • The british bank supervision FSA confers a e-money license on paysafecard

  • We have been very committed to increasing the number of countries paysafecard can be purchased and are proud to announce the successful launch in Switzerland. Only launched in January of this year, Switzerland has been very successful beyond any company expectation.

  • Belgium and Netherlands are now live with paysafecard, which now means paysafecard is available in over 10 European Countries and available for purchase at over 105,000 retail outlets spanning over these countries. This network of outlets has taken paysafecard to the era of being Europe’s leading business in online prepaid payments.

2007

  • This year saw a landmark in paysafecard, reaching an astonishing 10 million transactions over a 12 month period which has doubled from the previous year and growing at similar rates this year.

  • This year also saw paysafecard accepted at over 2,500 online retailers across Europe with a large variety of online shops.
     
  • paysafecard is on track with its international development in all markets, and is successfully established in seven counties and four currencies.

  • To continue its international development, paysafecard has been pledged an EU (eTEN) grant of 700,000 euros.

  • To continue its growth in the target markets, in May the paysafecard brand has been taking steps to enhance its international profile.

  • In the context of this international development, the combined workforce in Austria and overseas has been increased by 35%.

2006

  • In March, paysafecard launches in Greece, Slovenia and Slovakia, thus becoming available in five countries and three currencies (EUR, SIT and SKK).

  • paysafecard has been represented in the UK since September, and has had an impact in the market from day one.

  • At the beginning of December paysafecard Ltd starts up with its own small e-money licence in Great Britain, and paysafecards can be bought in sterling at 18,000 PayPoint outlets.

  • In September DI Udo Müller MBA joined the paysafecard board of directors.

  • Over 5 million payment transactions were conducted in the course of 2006.

 

2005

  • There are more than 20,000 sales outlets offering paysafecard in Austria and Germany.

  • In the course of the year, paysafecard managed to increase its monthly transaction volume to 5 million euros.

  • For the first time the number of cards sold rises to above the million mark.

  • Lotto Bayern and Westlotto start using paysafecard; now even state lottery organisers are coming to rely on the peace of mind offered by paysafecard.

  • In November Michael Müller was appointed as Chief Executive Officer.

2004

  • Customers already enjoy a selection of more than 1,500 paysafecard webshops.

  • paysafecard can also be bought from on-line shops, and can then be used straight away on the internet.

  • In April for the first time paysafecard records a monthly transaction volume in excess of one million euros, and with a strong upward tendency.

2003

  • Michael Altrichter joins the board of directors alongside Michael Müller.

  • 90% of the sales outlets in Germany are already selling paysafecards in the form of "e-vouchers".

2002

  • For the first time, paysafecard can also be purchased in the form of an electronic printout (e-voucher) from Drillisch ALPHATEL in Germany.

2001

  • Start of operational activity in Germany with an operational subsidiary in Düsseldorf.

2000

  • Start of operational activity in Austria in November. 

  • paysafecard.com Wertkarten AG founded in April.
