Preventing Fraud
Unfortunately there are plenty of cases of fraudsters attempting to get money from users by exploiting their lack of understanding or confidence. Here are the most important tips for protecting yourself from this kind of fraud:
1.
Never respond to any phone or e-mail requests for PIN numbers.
paysafecard will never ask you for your PIN over the phone or by e-mail. If you contact our paysafecard service team, you will only ever be asked for the serial number of your paysafecard and never for your full PIN. Furthermore, paysafecard will never get in touch with you unless you have contacted the paysafecard service team beforehand. Therefore you should not respond to any unexpected phone calls or e-mails.
2.
Ignore any e-mail reminders requesting payments by paysafecard.
paysafecard will not be used under any circumstances as a method of payment for government offices, firms of solicitors or debt collection companies – especially not in connection with any alleged violation of rights. The current cases show that these are attempts at fraud.
3.
Video instructions for converting paysafecard PIN numbers are usually fraudulent.
Films allegedly showing how to convert paysafecard PIN codes are always appearing on video platforms like YouTube. However, it is not technically possible to create paysafecard PIN codes in this way. Another frequently occurring attempt at fraud is when senders request a PIN, promising that they will double the value of the user's paysafecard for them. Their real aim, however, is to get access to the other person’s balance.
4.
Report suspicious websites
If you see any websites, e-mails or other online activity which you think is suspicious, please report it to the paysafecard security team at info@paysafecard.com. Our security department will follow up your reference immediately. We welcome your questions on the subject of security at the e-mail address given above.
