How do I switch into PaysafeWallet from another Irish bank?

Copied to clipboard

Account switching is a service that allows you to transfer your banking activity, including payments, direct debits, and balances from one bank account to another, in line with the Payment Accounts Directive (PAD) and the Irish Code of Conduct on the Switching of Payment Accounts with Payment Service Providers.

To switch your account to PaysafeWallet (formerly known as PaysafeWallet) from another Irish financial institution:

  1. Get familiar with the Switching process

Review this article to learn about the Account Switch form, steps involved, and timelines.

  2. Download and fill out the Account Switch form

Before submitting your Account Switch form, ensure you have a verified PaysafeCard account and have applied for the PaysafeWallet service.

  3. Submit the Account Switch form through the contact button below

Once your request is received, we will proceed by contacting your old bank to initiate the switch. The process will be completed within 10 working days of your chosen switching date.

What else should I know about the switch?

  • Pick your switching date during a low account activity period, where important payments aren’t carried out.
  • Update your payment details with any merchants and direct debit originators. While your old bank may notify Irish debit originators, we recommend that you inform your income or credit sources yourself.
  • Standing orders will not be moved over to your new IBAN as PaysafeWallet does not currently support these.  Alternatively, we can provide you with a list of standing orders from your previous bank account.
  • Ensure you have sufficient funds in both accounts to cover any pending debits.
  • We cannot transfer negative account balances as we do not offer any credit services.
  • Your new bank account at PaysafeWallet supports inbound and outbound SEPA transfers.
  • Note that if you’re closing your old account, any previously associated bank cards and cheques won’t be active afterwards.

Review the articles linked below for further details on the PaysafeWallet product.

Switching from a non-Irish financial institution to PaysafeWallet is not supported. However, you can easily open an IBAN account with us through here. Once your PaysafeWallet account is active, you may contact your previous bank for help with transferring your banking activity.
