paysafecard will never ask you for a paysafecard PIN by e-mail or telephone. Even the paysafecard service team will only ever ask you for the serial number, never for the full PIN.
Ignore e-mails demanding the payment of fines by paysafecard
paysafecard is not used as a method of payment by the authorities, law offices or collection agencies - and never in connection with alleged violations of the law. Such requests are always attempts at fraud!
Never trust online video tutorials promising to show you how to increase your paysafecard credit.
Videos promising to show you how to increase the credit on paysafecard PINs regularly appear on websites, in social networks and on video portals such as YouTube. This is not technically possible. Such tutorials are always scams. The real aim behind such claims is the acquisition of other people's credit by criminal means.
Only pay at authorised online shops
Only ever enter your paysafecard PIN in the payment panel of authorised paysafecard online shops.
You can recognise an authorised paysafecard online shop by the following:
- The payment window's internet address begins with customer.cc.at.paysafecard.com.
- The security certificate is issued to "customer.cc.at.paysafecard.com". You can check this by clicking on the padlock icon that's next to or inside your browser's address bar.
If you're unsure if a website is trustworthy, please contact the paysafecard service team. We'll be happy to check for you if the website is an authorised paysafecard online shop before you make a payment there.
Please report suspicious websites to us
If a website, e-mail or other online activities connected to paysafecard seem suspicious to you, please report them to the paysafecard security team at email@example.com. If you become the victim of fraud, please immediately report it to the police and contact the paysafecard service team.
How to spot malicious software
Having even the best anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-trojan and firewall tools installed on your computer does not guarantee 100% protection against malicious software. The most important tool for recognising malicious software is your own common sense and treating files you receive by e-mail or which are available to download from websites with caution. With a little caution and a prepaid card you can pay safely online.
In most cases, it is possible to spot a trojan or other malicious software at work by the appearance of download windows and other processes that do not usually appear during normal computer usage. If something like this appears, first physically disconnect from the internet to stop data being transferred. Because trojans immediately embed themselves in a computer system, it is necessary to remove any data or invocations initiated by the trojan. Specialised anti-malware software called "removers" are available to help do this. These are generally available free of charge from anti-virus software companies.
