Strategy games on PS4 that every gamer strategist should know

Strategy is a genre of games that focus on strategic thinking, planning and decision-making.

They usually involve managing resources, controlling characters, vehicles or locations, and making tactical decisions with an eye toward achieving specific goals.

These games often require long-term thinking, thoughtful resource management, and skilful movement around a map or board.

1. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI
The now legendary turn-based strategy (i.e. played by taking turns, similarly to strategic board games) in which you have the opportunity to build a new civilisation completely from scratch.

Your task is to manage resources, develop technologies and conquer new territories to dominate the world. You can only perform actions (such as city expansion or troop movements) when your turn, or so-called turn, occurs, hence the name “turn-based strategy.”

2. XCOM 2
A tactical turn-based game in which you fight an alien invasion. To succeed, you must plan your moves carefully, as any mistake could mean the premature end of your squad and the fight for freedom.

The game can be challenging and offers an almost unlimited combination of maps, missions and tasks.

3. Frostpunk
A post-apocalyptic strategy in which you build a city, manage resources and try to survive the murderous cold.

You’re tasked with erecting buildings to protect residents from the weather, as well as making tough decisions about resource allocation. The game requires management skills and out-of-the-box thinking.

4. Railway Empire
A strategy game in which you create a railroad empire across the US. You manage finances, build stations and lay tracks to connect individual cities.

In addition to the standard gameplay mode, where you are in charge of everything, you can also choose the construction mode, where you develop railroads without having to worry about financial issues.

5. Tropico 6
A game where you build a city on an island of paradise. You are tasked with the responsibility of managing resources, building tourist attractions and keeping the residents happy so that the island develops and is vibrant.

It provides a good way to relax and move to a paradisiacal landscape but is quite challenging if you want to achieve all the goals.

6. Slay the Spire
A strategic single-player card game in which you defeat the levels of the tower and the monsters and challenges present.

The key to success is to get the cards right together to get the most out of them, and to take actions thoughtfully.

7. Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut
A role-playing game set in a futuristic cyberpunk world, in which you control a team of criminals (shadowrunners). Your job is to carry out missions, gather information and build relationships.

Due to its team-based nature, the game often requires different skills than most strategy games, and completing a difficult mission brings a great deal of satisfaction.

8. Wargroove
A turn-based strategy in a fantastic world. In it you direct the units with which you are to defeat the enemy. The basics of the game are easy to master, but achieving mastery in it is quite a challenge, as you have to consider every move very carefully in order to win.

9. Planet Coaster: Console Edition
A strategy game in which you build and manage an amusement park. You design attractions and stores, and manage finances and employees.

The game allows you to give vent to your creativity, but it is also quite a challenge, as the amusement park must be both profitable and attractive to guests.

10. Cities: Skylines
A game in which you build your city. At the same time, you manage resources, build infrastructure and keep the residents happy so that the city can grow.

A good way to relax in your own city, but also a source of interesting challenges, as you have to take into account various issues such as education, water, electricity, transportation, etc.
