Which to choose - Xbox or PlayStation? Find out the advantages of both consoles

In November 2020, the world saw the latest generations of consoles from two leading manufacturers – Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Sony’s PlayStation 5. Since then, these have been the flagship models from both manufacturers and are very popular around the world. Both consoles have their pros and cons, so we’ll take a look at them below to help answer the age-old question: PlayStation or Xbox?

Price comparison

In terms of price, the two consoles are comparable, but the PlayStation 5 is slightly more expensive and costs around 2489 PLN, while you will pay up to 2359 PLN* for the Xbox Series X. The difference is therefore not much.

In both cases, you get one wireless controller included. If you want to play with others, it is therefore worth buying a second one. In the case of the Xbox Series X, this is an expense of around 230 PLN, and for the PlayStation 5, 320 PLN*.

Xbox Series X vs PS5 games

When it comes to games, the two manufacturers have taken two very different approaches.

The developers of the Xbox Series X assumed that users would still want to play the same titles as on the Xbox One. At the same time, the focus was on being able to take full advantage of the Xbox platform on various devices, including playing games on a variety of platforms, such as computers, consoles or Android devices.

In the case of PlayStation 5, on the other hand, it was decided that a number of PS5 games, available only to users of the console, would go on sale at the same time as the console launch. PlayStation 5 gamers can choose from a number of interesting games that are available only on PS5, as well as Sony’s own productions, which include Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, Sackboy: A Big Adventure or Astro’s Playroom.

Xbox Series X and PS5 games from independent developers

Both consoles offer an extensive library of independent developer titles, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Borderlands 3, Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Cyberpunk 2077, Madden 21 and Destiny 2. Access to the same independent games on both consoles is unlikely to change.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate vs. PlayStation Plus

Both consoles offer a subscription service that allows users, for a single monthly or annual fee, to play a variety of games and enjoy other benefits such as additional discounts, cloud storage and so on.

The biggest difference - apart from the titles available - is that in the PlayStation Store you can pay for the subscription with PaysafeCard vouchers. This option is not available to Xbox Game Pass users, who can buy individual games or services with PaysafeCard vouchers, but you already need a traditional bank card, like PaysafeCard Mastercard (you can read more about it here) which allows you to pay for your subscription using funds in your PaysafeCard account.

Xbox Series X or PS5: performance

In terms of graphics quality or loading times, both consoles perform very similarly. New SSD drives and faster processors mean that, compared to their predecessors - PS4 and Xbox One - games install and load much faster.

Xbox Series X or PS5: the controller

The controller on the Xbox Series X is almost identical to the Xbox One model.

It has been improved slightly with textured grips and bumpers. The directional controls were also improved and you will find a dedicated share button in the middle.

These thoughtful changes have further improved one of the best controllers on the market.

The main drawback is that it is powered by two AA batteries, instead of the built-in rechargeable battery, which comes at an extra cost to the user.

The PS5 DualSense differs significantly from its predecessor, the DualShock 4.

It is two-coloured and features larger grips. It also offers many new features, such as extremely realistic touch effects and a built-in microphone. Also impressive are the adaptive “Trigger” effects, which simulate a real trigger, or vibrations that resemble the rolling of objects inside a box.

Xbox X Series or PS5: PaysafeCard vouchers

Both consoles also offer a shop for games, products and services.

Both - Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store - support different payment methods, such as PaysafeCard vouchers. You buy them conveniently from a shop near you or online at your mypaysfae account, and then enter the 16-digit voucher code during purchase.

You don’t need to enter your account or bank card details. You also have the peace of mind that you won’t go over your budget – you can pay only what the voucher is worth.

Which is better: Xbox or PS5?

It’s a difficult question to answer. Xbox offers a convenient subscription and one of the best controllers on the market. The PlayStation 5 has games not available on other consoles and a controller with excellent touch effects.

In both cases you can count on an extensive library of games and the ability to pay for purchases with convenient PaysafeCard vouchers.
