How do exchange rates work?
An exchange rate shows how much it costs to exchange one currency for another. So, every day, the European Central Bank (ECB) publishes exchange rates between currencies based on a daily average of European banks.
When you spend money abroad, whether it is on holidays or online in a foreign currency, banks sometimes add a fee to your exchange rate.
All banks now must show you the ECB rate and any fees they charge in addition to facilitate a transaction in a foreign currency. We are always transparent, so you always know where you stand. Below you can find the benefits and the fees for our Mastercard.
