Bulgaria is switching to the EUR. How will that affect me?
Get ready for the EUR
Due to planned maintenance on December 15, 2025, you won’t be able to log in to your PaysafeCard account between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Bulgaria joins the Eurozone on January 1, 2026, and the euro (EUR) will officially become the national currency. PaysafeCard is committed to making this transition as seamless as possible.
What’s changing?
If you hold an account in BGN:
• On 15 December 2025 your account currency and balance will be automatically converted to EUR at the official rate of 1.95583 BGN = 1 EUR, with 0% fee.
• No action is required from you.
• After the transition, you’ll continue using your PaysafeCard account as usual, just in EUR.
If you have unused 16-digit codes in BGN:
• You will be able to use them, but after 15 December 2025, they will be automatically converted to EUR in the time of the transaction.
Will I be charged a fee?
No additional fees will apply. The conversion will use the official fixed exchange rate:
1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN.
What else should I consider?
• If you still have PaysafeCard codes in BGN, you can use and top them up in your account. We’ll automatically convert your transactions to EUR at the official rate of 1.95583 BGN = 1 EUR, with no FX fee.
• Starting January 2026 PaysafeCard prepaid codes will be sold in EUR (5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 EUR) only.
• Any unused PaysafeCard codes in BGN can still be redeemed in 2026 after the currency switch but will automatically be converted to EUR in the time of the transaction.
• Our partner web shops and online platforms will start charging in EUR.
What to do if I don’t want to change my account currency?
After December 15, 2025, we will no longer support BGN accounts. If you do not agree to the changes, you can cancel your contract with us with immediate effect and without any compensation before 15 December 2025. Further information on your right to terminate the contract can be found in the "Term and Termination" section of our currently valid version of the General Terms and Conditions.
