With all its top titles such as Uncharted, The Last of Us and God of War, the PS4 is THE console of the generation for many gamers. Now its successor is about to launch. To make sure the launch of the PS5 goes as smoothly as possible for you, we have compiled all the important information on Sony's new console here.
PS5 - When does it launch?
Let us assume that you live in Europe. Then you can get your hands on the PS5 starting from November 19th. Other countries like the USA can start playing a week earlier. There, the PS5 will be released on November 12th. So you'll have to wait a bit longer, but the internet will be full of coverage and gameplay of the new console.
How much will the PS5 cost?
There are two versions of the PS5. The "normal" edition with a disc drive runs for 499 Euros. The "Digital Edition" without a drive can't play discs, but costs only 399 Euro.
Which edition should I get?
It depends. How do you buy your games these days? Always directly from the PSN-Store? Then the Digital Edition could be just right for you. With the money you save, you can pay for the first game or a second controller. In addition, you no longer have to store discs and change games. But if you still buy or collect physical games, then the normal, albeit more expensive, edition is probably the right choice.
What games will be released at launch?

With Astro's Playroom and Fortnite you can have fun with your new console without spending any money. There are other familiar names on the list, including Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, Call of Duty and Destiny 2. If you're already a fan of these series, getting the PS5 versions of those games should be a safe bet. Let's take a closer look at some exclusive titles.
It all started with Demon's Souls. The little insider tip quickly became a cult hit and started the new genre "souls-like". A crisp level of difficulty and the gloomy atmosphere make these games stand out. Now Demon's Souls returns as a remake with new graphics.
Godfall releases exclusively on PS5 and is a "co-op-looter-slasher". It looks to evoke Destiny, but with melee combat. You will receive loot for completed missions, which you can use to improve your character. Weapon classes determine your attacks. This should be a good game for launch, especially if you play together with others.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales takes place one year after the events of Spider-Man. You take over the role of Miles Morales, whose mother is a politician and is standing for election in New York. If you've played Spider-man on PS4 (by the way, this will also be released as a remake for PS5), you already know the fluent open world gameplay. Miles will of course get his own upgrades, experience a completely new story and also bring further new features to the game.
What other hardware will be released?
- Camera (two 1080p lenses)
- Remote control
- Controller charging station
Can I play my PS4 games on the PS5?
Yes, because 99% of PS4 games will also run on PS5. Including all major Sony games.
PS Plus Collection on PS5
PS Plus will also be available on PS5. A completely new benefit is the PS Plus Collection. A list of PS4 games that all PS5 users can download and play. This is the list of games:
- God of War
- Days Gone
- Until Dawn
- Detroit Become Human
- Battlefield 1
- Infamous Second Son
- Arkham Knight
- Last Guardian
- Last of Us Remastered
- Persona 5
- Resident Evil 7: BioHazard
- Uncharted 4

The PS Plus Collection is available right at launch, so you can fill your hard drive with games and play right away. That's quite a change for PS Plus to launch the new console. But with all the changes, one thing remains the same: paying on PSN with paysafecard is as simple and straightforward as ever.
