How does two-factor authentication work?

Copied to clipboard

At paysafecard we employ two-factor authentication to ensure the security of your myPaysafe account and prevent unauthorized access.

When logging in or paying online, we may request you to confirm your identity as the rightful account owner. This will be done by sending a one-time password to your registered phone number, or if you have the paysafecard app installed, a push notification instead.

To use two-factor authentication via the paysafecard app:

  1. Download the paysafecard app via the Apple or Google Play store, then log in to the app to connect the device.
  2. When you log in via the web, a push notification will be sent to the app. Once you accept the push notification, you'll be logged in.

Even if you've previously set up two-factor authentication via the app on a specific device, you can set up two-factor on a new device at any time by following the steps mentioned above.

If you experience issues with the app, use the SMS two-factor authentication instead:

  1. After you enter your login credentials and reach the two-factor authentication screen choose the ‘’Don`t own a smartphone?’’ option or if you have used the app before, the “Push notification not received?” option. An SMS with a one-time 4-digit code will be sent to your registered phone number.
  2. Enter the 4-digit code on your web screen and confirm your login.

During the authentication process you can tick the "Trusted Device" box to stop receiving two-factor authentication on this device, when logging in or paying.

Additionally, if you attempt to log in or pay from a new device without the paysafecard app installed, we`ll request verification via a one-time secure code sent to your registered email.

We recommend you to always have the paysafecard app on hand for a fast and secure authentication.
